Australian Athletes with a Disability Ltd Australian Athletes with a Disability Ltd is holding its first Annual General Meeting on Saturday 23 October 2004 in Sydney. At the meeting Corny Van Eldik and Liz Pollock retire by rotation and are able to offer themselves for re-election. Bob Cole, Amanda Garland and Tanya Cox each have another year remaining on their appointments on the AAWD Board. Nominations are currently open for the two available positions on the Board and close at the AAWD Office forty-eight hours prior to the commencement of the AGM. Funding guidelines for Australian Athletes with a Disability 2004-2005 funding are currently being finalised and will be released in the near future with allocations to be made by December 2004. ASOD AGM The Australian Sports Organisation for the Disabled Annual General Meeting will be held Tuesday 12 October 2004 via teleconference. ASOD currently has three members Queensland Sporting Wheelies, NSW Amputee Sports Association and Victoria Amputee Sports Association who will each be represented at the AGM. Wheelchair Sports Australia The Wheelchair Sports Australia Annual General Meeting will be held in Brisbane on Saturday 30 October 2004 and will be followed by a meeting of the members of WSA and Darren Peters, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Paralympic Committee. Current members of the WSA Board Graeme Watts, Phil Tracey and Esme Bowen will retire by rotation at the meeting. Graeme and Phil have offered themselves for re-election. Nominations for these three positions are currently open and close at the Office of WSA forty-eight hours prior to the commencement of the AGM. On Sunday 31 October
2004 WSA will meet with its Sport Sections including the basketball,
rugby, juniors, swimming and lawn bowls Sport Sections at a seminar
aimed at among other things improving the channels of communication
between WSA and its Sport Sections. For up to date results of the 2004 Paralympic Games the APC website is a great resource www.paralympic.org.au. The Athens 2004
website also provides results including basketball and rugby game

These games have
been held in Nottingham up to now. Three years ago C.P.-I.S.R.A. decided
to vary the venue. The Organising Committee in Connecticut USA won
the bid and the 2005 CP World Games will be held there during 2 to
10 July 2005. Final details have not been announced. Sports offered
will be Athletics; Cycling; Table Tennis; Bowls; Powerlifting; Swimming
and Soccer (soccer will be the world cup event); Table Tennis and
Powerlifting are pending for IPC sanctioning. If you wish to find

Basketball The Wheelchair Sports Australia under 20 team to compete in the New Zealand Basketball Nationals has been selected:
The team departs Australia on 21 October 2004 and will be coached by Evan Bennett and Barry Barker. The Team Manager is Linda Ross. The three-day competition will be played in Rotorua on New Zealand's North Island. Boccia In October there will be a Come and Try Day held in Logan City Community Hall. After the Come and Try day there will be program set up for the players in the area. A place, dates and times for a regular weekly competition will be arranged. Contact Mrs. Joan Stevens on 07 3822 1758 for more details. Everyone is invited, especially people on the south side of Brisbane including the Gold Coast and Northern NSW. In November a Come and Try Day will be held in Redcliff with a view to set up a regular weekly competition as in Logan City. Contact Mrs. Joan Stevens on 07 3822 1758 for more details. A future notice for people who would like to play Boccia in the Albury-Wodonga area and the Griffith NSW area that Come and Try days are being planned for those regions in the near future. Lawn Bowls The Australian team to compete in the Asia-Oceania Lawn Bowls Challenge between Australia and Korea in October 2004 at the Clearview Bowling Club has been announced. The team is:
The team will compete against eight bowlers from Korea in both singles and pairs over three days of competition. Congratulations to all athletes selected in the team. Soccer The Inaugural National Cerebral Palsy Soccer Championships is to be held at the Sydney Academy of Sport, 12-14 November 2004. Final team selections are being made. Swimming Twenty swimmers from the Excell Squad will be attending an Excell Camp in Melbourne 24-26 September 2004. John Ornsby is coordinating the course and coaches include Bruce Power and Kylie Wood. Volleyball A Sitting Volleyball Training Camp is being conducted over the weekend of 9-10 October 2004 at the University of Newcastle's Forum Sports and Aquatic Centre. The camp has two objectives: one to provide an opportunity for current members to train together and the other to provide an opportunity to encourage others to participate.
