PALSY GAMES CONNECTICUT USA
Best wishes
to the Australian Team members travelling to the World Cerebral
Palsy Games. The team, which was announced in the last newsletter,
is a great mix of experienced and new athletes and we are sure they
will do everyone proud.

NWBL finals
Another great NWBL season is rapidly approaching it's conclusion.
The NWBL finals will be played at Shellharbour 29 to 31 July. If
you are in the area, please come along and watch some great Wheelchair
Basketball action.
Spitfire Tournament
Best wishes to the Gliders who head to Canada to contest the Spitfire
Tournament in Canada 25 July - 1 August 2005.
Roosevelt Tournament
Unfortunately this tournament in the USA has been cancelled this
year due to lack of numbers.
Boccia
2005 National
Championships
The Boccia Nationals will be held 7 - 10 July 2005 at Warriewood
in Sydney. Preparations are well in hand for this competition and
we wish all competitors the best of luck.
Just prior to
the competition there will be a referees workshop where a number
of referees from around the country have been invited to attend
to update their skills and knowledge in preparation for the National
Championships.
Asia & South Pacific Boccia Championships
Boccia Australia will be sending a team to the Asia & South
Pacific Boccia Championships to take place in Kuala Lumpur between
15th -22nd September 2005. Athletes attending these Championships
will attend a two day training camp prior to the Nationals.
Come and Try - Melbourne
In mid July Joan Stevens (Australian Coach) will be travelling to
Melbourne to visit a number of regions including Griffith, Wangaratta,
Albury and Benalla. Joan will be demonstrating Boccia to all of
these areas and assisting in the set up of the game and encouraging
people to become involved.

Gold Coast Marathon
The next leg
of the AWGP will be the Gold Coast Marathon on Sunday 3 July. Good
luck to all competitors.
Rugby
WSA/APC Memorandum
of Understanding
Wheelchair Sports
Australia has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with
the Australian Paralympic Committee to manage the Paralympic Preparation
Program for Wheelchair Rugby. We are currently calling for applicants
for all team staff positions. Position descriptions can be found
at www.sports.org.au. Applications
close on 15 July 2005. For further information on the program please

National Wheelchair
Rugby League
The 2005 Telstra
National Wheelchair Rugby League kicked off in Adelaide 24-27 June
2005. There were some very hard fought matches all weekend, with
no team coming away undefeated. At the end of the round Queensland
is on top of the ladder with 5 wins from 6 matches, South Australia
are in second place, with 2004 League Champions New South Wales

Australia for doing such a great job organising the weekend.
The second round
of the league will be held in Brisbane 23-25 July. This will be
followed by the Open Tournament at Narrabeen 19-21 August.

The Australian
standing volleyball team is currently in Cambodia contesting the
Asia Oceania Standing Volleyball Championships. We look forward
