Basketball NWBL - Noel Rowsell reports the Wentworthville Leagues Wheelkings have experienced a forgettable weekend in round two of the National Wheelchair Basketball League (NWBL) competition, losing both games of a very tough double-header. The Wheelkings, which were missing two key players in Dutch Paralympian Koen Jansens and Australian Paralympian Liesl Tesch, lost 92-57 to the West Sydney Razorbacks and 85-55 to the Brisbane Spinning Bullets. The weekend's competition could not have been much tougher for the under-strength Wheelkings, who faced up to two of the most highly-ranked players in the world in the respective games. Saturday night's clash against the Razorbacks featured Australia's number one male wheelchair basketball player Troy Sachs, who showed off some of his best form with the Razorbacks to collect 50 points, 23 boards and 9 assists to lead his team to an easy win. Sunday's game featured the world's number-one ranked player, Canadian Paralympian Patrick Anderson, who also showed vintage form with the Bullets to grab 46 points, including eight three-pointers, to lead his team to an easy win. Wheelkings new signing David Gould played his heart out in both games, returning 14 points in each, while back-court duo of Kylie Gauci and David Selby played inspirational roles for the losing team.
