AVON Club Championships - The AVON Club Championships will be held in Wollongong, NSW, 1-2 November 2003. Frank Castelli has been named as Games Commissioner for the weekend. For further information visit http://wnwbl.sports.org.au/ NWBL - Finals of the NWBL will be held in Brisbane 26-28 September. Before the finals there are two rounds to be played, round eight, 30-31 August in Wollongong, Brisbane & Melbourne and round nine, 13-14 September in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. According to Noel Rowsell round eight promises to provide an invaluable insight to the upcoming playoff series of the national competition, with reigning premiers the Perth Wheelcats headed to Queensland to take on the red-hot Brisbane Spinning Bullets in a double-header weekend. These two teams are currently in a three-way share of the competition lead, along with the Wollongong Roller Hawks, but either the Wheelcats or Spinning Bullets will drop back to third after this round, as the Hawks look odds on favourites to defeat a depleted West Sydney Razorbacks lineup on Saturday afternoon in Albion Park. The Wheelcats and Spinning Bullets have lost just one game apiece this season, although it is significant to note the Queenslanders are currently on a seven-game winning streak and are being led superbly by Canadian Paralympian Patrick Anderson. The contest between Anderson and the Wheelcats big guns of Australian Paralympians Brad Ness and Justin Eveson should determine the outcome of the game but the low-pointers could be the key to a Wheelcats victory, if they can hamper Anderson's all-court mobility and coverage.
