Walker to coach wheelies Basketball Australia is pleased to announce that Mark Walker has been appointed Head Coach of the Australian Junior Wheelchair Basketball Team. Walker coached the Australian men’s wheelchair basketball team, the Rollers, to a Gold Medal at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympics with victory over Great Britain, 78-63. He will spearhead Australia’s quest for a medal at the 2009 World Junior Wheelchair Championship and will work in conjunction with head coaches of the Rollers and Gliders (women’s) programs, as well as being an integral part of the Australian Junior Camp at Canberra in January 2008. “Mark has coached wheelchair basketball in a number of countries and together with his experiences brings great passion of the game to his coaching,” Basketball Australia Chief Executive Scott Derwin said.
