The Australian Rollers have won Gold at the Asia Oceania Wheelchair Basketball Championships held at Dandenong Basketball Stadium in Melbourne
(11-17 October). The Rollers defeated Japan 68 to 51 in the final with Korea defeating China 70 to 68 in the play off for third place. Australia, Japan and Korea will represent Asia Oceania at the World Championships to be held in Birmingham, United Kingdom from 13-25 June 2010. Kuwait and Malaysia were the other teams that participated in the event.
In other results, the Australian Women's Wheelchair Basketball team, the Gliders, finished their 4 game series against Japan with a 3 – 1 record. The series was held in conjunction with the men’s Asia-Oceania Championships in Dandenong as well as a special luncheon to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Gliders.
