Australian Athletes with a Disability is responsible for the administration of:

Australian Sports Organisation for the Disabled (ASOD)

Cerebral Palsy Sports and Recreation Federation of Australia (CPASRF)

Wheelchair Sports Australia (WSA)
All three organisations are responsible for the development of sport for athletes with a disability and administer, promote and coordinate sporting opportunities. Each of the three organisations has State and Territory organisations as members.
The AAWD Board consists of five members who meet at least quarterly and are supplemented by audit, remuneration, compliance and nomination committees.
The main duties of Australian Athletes with a Disability are to:

To encourage, plan, co-ordinate, promote and generally expedite sporting activities

To provide pathways for officials, coaches and classifiers to reach the highest level.

To provide elite national level competition opportunities

To provide direction and guidance to state organisations to develop sport for athletes with a disability

To act as a collation and dissemination centre for state organisations
-
To liase with other national and international associations whose aims and objectives are consistent with the organisation and by doing so make all such efforts as may be deemed necessary to attain the better supply of recreational and sporting activities for athletes with a disability

Lobby for the disabled sports movement within the Australian Sports Commission and other national organisations as required

Liase with international bodies including CPISRA, ISOD, ISMWSF, IWBF, and the IWRF
